Registration for our 2023 retreat is now closed.
The Healing Wheel Retreat was created as a means of closing the gap between the support traditionally offered to African Americans, versus the ways in which we KNOW we heal as Black women: when we are in the company of other caring, heart-centered women who share similar backgrounds, who have expressed some of our same concerns, and who have identified tools that may help us along our healing journey.
We know that traditional therapy is an effective solution to many of the challenges we face, but there are aspects of healing that can best be facilitated in the company of other women who have also made their personal healing a priority. By providing sacred, nurturing, private, and open healing spaces for those who suffer from trauma, we are doing what we can to ensure that families have a brighter future.
The saying goes, “when you heal a woman, you heal a nation.”
Trauma experienced by women impacts families and communities, and contributes to the transfer of poverty across generations. Being trauma-informed includes preventing, recognizing, and responding to many types of trauma. Crucial to this recognition is understanding that different forms of systematic oppression, including discrimination and exploitative practices, are traumatic. This cycle of trauma and oppression calls for healing-centered solutions that have an impact on multiple generations simultaneously.
Thus, contributing greatly to the healing of our nation. We can do this! Even if we do so one woman at a time.
